Crossrail has confirmed the appointment of David Bennett as implementation director, a position that will come into effect on July 20th.
Mr Bennett, who currently holds the position of deputy Crossrail project representative, will work alongside that project delivery partner to make sure that Crossrail's construction phase is delivered to schedule and within budget.
Crossrail chief executive Rob Holden said he was "delighted" to announce Mr Bennett's appointment.
"He brings a wealth of experience to the project, not least from his current role with the Crossrail Project Representative which provides oversight to DfT [Department for Transport] and TfL [Transport for London] as project sponsors," he commented.
Mr Holden added that Mr Bennett will "play a key role" in the delivery of the largest construction project in Europe.
It was announced in May that construction work had begun at the new Crossrail station in Canary Wharf.
The station will be the first on the line to be constructed, with rail services due to begin in 2017.
