'Essential' Highlands maintenance all set Image Rail jobs provider Network Rail states that the West Highlands are likely to experience some disruption in the upcoming week.

Improvement works are set to be carried out in the area to try and avoid inconvenience at peak tourist times.

The lines that will be affected are Crianlarich to Oban, being closed of as of Friday November 13th.

David Simpson, Network Rail route director for Scotland, said: "This work is essential to the continued running of a safe, reliable rail network in the West Highlands.

"Closing the line at this time will allow us to complete all of this work quickly and efficiently."

As of Saturday November 14th until Friday November 19th Glasgow-Oban trains will leave from and terminate at Crianlarich. Forwarding journeys will be replaced by a bus service.

Network Rail claims to have made running and efficiency improvements to the lines that mean they are now 30 per cent better than they were five years ago.
