New airport facilities in Southampton could mark an increase in rail jobs for the area as access is improved to encourage greater use of the station.

Transport minister, Chris Mole, said: "Southampton is a major international gateway and I'm delighted to open these new facilities which will make life easier for passengers."
He added that to encourage increased use of the site meant that maybe delete and put a comma improving passenger access is vital.
A £2 million government grant meant that it was possible to build two new platform lifts and a footbridge at Southampton station, along with extra financial input from Hampshire County Council, South West Trains and BAA.
BAA currently owns seven UK airports which facilitate 1,700 airport take-offs on a daily basis.
The government launched the £370 million Access for All initiative three years ago, which has made the Southampton station redevelopment possible.
Access for All was set up to assist in the redevelopment of train stations throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
