The new year should signal the beginning of a new 'green' economy where hundreds of thousands of new transport jobs will be created, according to Nick Clegg.

Speaking in his new year address, the leader of the Liberal Democrats said that 2010 should be a year of change.
"Soon we will be publishing new ideas to turn our economy away from its over dependence on the City of London to a new, green economy," he said.
Mr Clegg added that hundreds of thousands of new jobs would be created as the UK rebuilt its transport infrastructure.
A blueprint for a high-speed rail link between London and the Midlands was yesterday (December 30th) handed to the government for approval, with Transport Secretary Lord Adonis saying that high-speed rail would be his top priority over the next three months.
